What's white labelling?

Ever heard the phrase 'white labelling'? Well, in case you haven't, it's a term which basically means you create something under someone else's brand name.

Quite often it relates to the food and drink sector with many a non-brand creating food and drink for more well-known brands. They 'white label' their own goods so that the brand adds their own label to the product, and we buy it thinking it's all the same thing. As consumers, we don't know that there are thirty small vineyards helping large Champagne houses meet their targets. Plus, we probably don't really care.

So, what's this got to do with copy writing and PR? Glad you asked. Well, basically we 'white label' on behalf of your company. That means we can write the content of your website, and no-one is any the wiser that it's not you writing it.

Or, we can write your social media posts and no-one will know it's not you (that'll be called getting the tone of voice right).

We even white label for other companies, who provide services to the bigger guys. So we write copy, not under our name, for a business who supplies it - alongside their own work, such as social media or website design - not under their name, for a larger company who does, finally, put their name to it.

That's why we can say we've written content for Gatwick, Julia Donaldson CBE, Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens, Hilliers Garden Centres (btw we're loving the Chelsea coverage at the mo) and Menopause in the Workplace, but you won't see our name next to it like a newspaper byline*

* interesting fact, Lisa used to be a journalist so DID see her name alongside her copy, but she enjoys the lack of notoriety when she sees her own words reflected back at her from ad campaigns, social media posts and articles.
